Carnmoney Colts 6 Northend United U13s 1 Saturday 29th January 2011
Due to suspensions and key players missing through illness, a weakened Northend team travelled to play Carnmoney Colts at Mallusk. The game started with both sides showing good passing and movement .Carnmoney's midfield and forwards gradually showed their superior work rate and passing game. This tested Northend defence where their captain M Carberry and A Reid produced timely tackles to keep Carnmoney at bay.
Northend continued to play a passing game and where somewhat unfortunate, not to take the lead through chances that fell to the hard working Ciaran Neeson, Josh king and Conor Bannon. A slip on the left hand side of the Northend defence allowed a fine strike from twenty-five yards by a Carnmoney forward to find the back of the net. Northend where again unlucky not to equalise, when Ciaran Neeson just failed to force the ball over the line.
Another good passing movement down Northend right hand side resulted in a close range shot that found the net to extend Carnmoney's lead to two nil. Carnmoney struck again minutes before half time to score a third with the Northend defence missing Carberry who had to leave the pitch with a blood injury, to leave the half-time score 3-0.
The second half started badly for Northend as within two minutes Carnmoney scored there fourth goal. Credit to Northend they continued to work hard, but found their opponents attacking continuously putting them under pressure. This pressure led to a fifth goal for Carnmoney as Northend's defence where outnumbered.
A fine sole run from his own eighteen yard line by Northend's Michael Carberry, led to him firing a low powerful shot past the Carnmoney goalkeeper at his near post. This was to be Northend's last chance as, minutes later an unmarked midfield player from Carnmoney to head home a free header from a corner to score Carnmoney's sixth goal.
Carnmoney fully deserved their win with a fine display of quick attacking football. Northend are left to rue their earlier missed chances however they have to re group and work hard in training.

Antrim Rovers U13s 2 Northend United U13s 5 Saturday 15th January 2011
The game was played at a windy Mallusk with Northend playing with a strong wind at their backs. This allowed Northend to press early on but good defending by Rovers and some poor passing selection by Northend in the final third of the pitch neutralized the wind advantage for Northend.
The danger for Northend was that Antrim Rovers could catch them on the break, and so they did. Play down Northend s right hand side was not contained and a through ball found the Rovers number 9 free on the edge of the box to firm a low firm shot past the Northend keeper.
Northend continued to press but again wrong pass selection cost them dearly but the half time score remained 1-0 to Antrim Rovers.
The second half started with Rovers using the wind to good effect playing the ball behind the Northend back four. Northend's defence stood firm and good movement and passing out of defence allowed Northend's midfield to gain a foothold in the game.
Northend's Captain Michael Carberry made a strong run with the ball from midfield and evaded a number of tackles to fire a low shot into the corner of the net from twenty-two yards out, to leave the score 1-1
This lifted Northend and minutes later from a corner, Connor Bannon controlled the ball and fired a fierce volley into the roof of the net. In a golden spell for United after some good approach play, a mistake by the Rovers keeper allowed Ciaran Neeson to score from close range.
Northend kept taking the game to Antrim and following a strong run from defence by Carberry, Harry Kilgore was fouled on the edge of the box. From the free kick, Leo Morgan stepped up to fire home with pace and precision to increase Northend's lead.
By now Northend's forwards and wide midfield players where finding space all over the pitch and a through ball found Michael McAuley who ran thirty yards to finish with a crisp shot.
Towards the end of the game, a bad tackle from Northend's defender Adrian Dubyna left the referee with no choice but to send him off. From this free kick, Rovers scored a good goal, with a couple of minutes left. Northend played the game out to the final whistle, to take a convincing 5-2 victory
All 15 players to-day played better and it is the intention to build on this performance and finish as high up the League table as possible.

Portaferry U13s 3 Northend United U13s 2 Saturday 8th January 2011
An under strength Northend side made the long journey to Portaferry on Saturday. On a firm surface both sides tried to play a quick passing game. Krystian Yaworski in the Northend goal had to be alert and produced a couple of fine saves early on. Slowly Northend played their way into the game, with some quick passing football. From one of these moves a pass from midfield found Leo Morgan running clear of the Portaferry defence and he fired a firm shot past the stranded keeper to give Northend the lead.
Portaferry continued to press and again good goalkeeping again by Yaworski kept them at bay. Northend's defence was well marshalled by their Captain Michael Carberry at this stage however, a fine ball played through by a Portaferry midfield player found their very dangerous striker who held off two tackles to score a fine goal to equalise.
Minutes before half time, Portaferry was awarded a penalty. Krystian Yaworski produced a fine save to deny Portaferry going ahead, leaving the half time score 1-1
The second half continued with Portaferry pressing well but Northend's defence managed to contain them. However pressure was building on Northend as they where unable to fine any control in midfield. From a corner that was only partly cleared, a shot from the Portaferry right back was deflected past Yaworski to give Portaferry the lead.
This seemed to fire Northend and they played their way into the game slowly finding their players with the Northend characteristic passing play. A good passing movement found Connor Bannon who, on his debut produced a fine shot to draw Northend level.
Both sides continued to attack, and with full time less than a minute away, Northend did not deal with a goal kick from Portaferry and the ball broke loose to their striker who fired a low firm shot into the net to give Portaferry a 3-2 lead which they held until the end of the match.

Willowbank U13s 6 Northend United U13s 0 Saturday 20th November 2010
For the second week in a row Northend U13s came up against a well organized Willowbank team. Northend were holding their own until a tame shot from the Willowbank midfielder was misjudged by the Northend keeper and finished up in the net.
Willowbank then quickly added two more goals after Northend's heads dropped and added another before half time leaving the half time score 4-0 to Willowbank.
Northend started far better in the second half and were passing the ball a lot better especially down the wings to Aaron Reid and Harry Kilgore but again Willowbank's counter attacking caught out the Northend defence as they were getting no support from the midfield and they scored two more goals to finish any fight back.
Northend United U13s make the long trip to Portaferry next Saturday to play the local Portaferry United FC U13s in the NIBFA Cup with an 11am kick off

Willowbank U13s 7 Northend United U13s 2 Saturday 13th November 2010
The U13s took on a strong Willowbank on Saturday. Northend started the game poorly and allowed Willowbank to score two fast goals. Krystian Yaworski had a busy game, and was forced to save several shots and make several last ditch efforts to stop Willowbank adding to their tally.
Willowbank scored a third from a corner, which looked to be put into the net by the hand of a Willowbank attacker and a fourth rather unlucky goal as Michael Carberry attempted to clear the ball but it bounced off an oncoming Willowbank player and found its way into the net.
Harry Kilgore had the Willowbank defenders struggling on the left hand side as Aaron Reid played a superb pass through to release him onto the Willowbank keeper but unfortunately the ball was cleared to safety by one of their defenders.
Northend came more into the game and Eoin McCorkindale was unlucky not to score as his half volley was well saved by the keeper.
Some outstanding tackling from Adrian Dubyna helped to prevent Willowbank from scoring more but unfortunately he could do nothing to prevent Willowbank adding a fifth to their tally just before half time.
The second half began and Northend started to dictate play and halted the Willowbank attack completely. However when they conceded a goal which looked to be offside their heads dropped and they started to slip away again, and allowed Willowbank to add another to their tally.
However Northend came back into the game and some magnificent individual play from Harry Kilgore gave Northend their first goal.
The same player added a second to his and Northend's tally but Willowbank snuffed out any chance of a come back with a final goal which Krystian Yaworski could do nothing to prevent.

Larne Youth U13s 1 Northend United U13s 1 Saturday 6th November 2010
The U13s travelled to Antiville on Saturday to take on Larne Youth. Play began with Northend dominating the first twenty-five minutes of the game, but just couldn't get the goal they so badly deserved.
Harry Kilgore had the Larne defence struggling on the left wing but was unlucky when his shot went narrowly wide of the mark. Ciaran Neeson ran the Larne defence ragged on the opposite side of the pitch and saw one shot go just wide and the other forcing the keeper to make a good save to deny Northend.
Northend created several more chances and Aaron Reid played Harry Kilgore in who saw his shot saved by the keeper. Northend created chance after chance but just could not hit the back of the net but then completely against the run of play Larne broke and from what seemed like an offside position, they scored. This goal lifted Larne and they broke again but Krystian Jaworski made a good save to deny them.
The second half started with Larne gaining much of the early possession but didn't create any real chances to cause Krystian Jaworski any trouble. Northend sprung back into life and started to dominate play again but had several chances saved by the Larne keeper and several others go narrowly wide. Leo Morgan had a tremendous chance to get the equaliser but saw his shot go narrowly wide.
But with two minutes remaining, Northend got a well deserved goal when Leo Morgan smashed the ball into the net over the top of the Larne keeper.
With the score at 1-1 Northend pushed for a winner and created several more chances in the dying seconds of the game but just couldn't hit the back of the net. The final whistle went and the score finished 1-1 and Northend proud of their efforts and determination to get a result from the game.
A special mention goes to Adrian Dubyna who put in a strong performance when he came on as a substitute.
